Re Straker's office.

I agree that the elevator office was a very "Anderson" thing to do but it
always seemed to me a security risk. For a start there were the elevator
type doors, the obvious gap that elevaters have even today 36 odd yrs later
and the noise it made. It was very loud, both sides of the door. Mind you it
was cool!/

I think if Gerry wanted to do a "UFO:2005" series with the computers
and CGI avail today, think how real SID would look. Let's face it,
the series looked (and still looks) pretty darn good for 1969. We
hadn't even set foot on the moon yet when they started filming (and
I believe they were shooting on 7/20/69)..and it holds up pretty
well. I DO think those cars look pretty clumsy and clunky, tho.

I agree, Lyn, the office was COOL. But I'm sure they would have explained
the "noise" issue by saying the builidng was sound-proofed or something.
However, I remember the Timelash episode, when the guys were banging on the
door to get out, Miss Ealand could hear them through the locked door
so....well, it's anyone's guess ;-)

Yeah, I was a little disapointed that he went for Captain Scarlet instead of UFO...maybe the rights to UFO were still tied up with that company that wanted to turn it into The Invaders meets X Files? (My memory is fuzzy on that remake attempt but it was pretty recent)

Isn't there as image of an interceptor design concept that looks a lot like a Gemini Capsule with the layout of the interceptor? Anyone point me in the direction of that image? What would be a cool remake of UFO is to set the series in 1969 - 1970 (The years of the real production) and make it a secret war (Which it was) happening behind the scenes of our real moon landing.

I mean how would we fight an alien invasion with Gemini/Apollo Soyuz tech?

I agree with both of you.. That room was cool. But how did hide that huge enpty space where it
was. Or was there an identical office above it. But I too think they should have done something
simple like have a hidden lift somewhere in his office. It would have made far more sense.

Good point Sammy. I need to go watch that ep again.

They just kept the door closed to keep the lift shaft covered up ..
