Easy access?

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear...

I was looking at the raw datafiles which the DVD is made from. There
about 500 files, with cryptic names. I just started copying them &
converting them to see what they were. One of them was this
sequence. Another was a title graphic explaining the sequence.

However, from the point of the view of the average DVD user with a
normal DVD player, there doesn't appear to be any way to access this
extra!

Sorry, Marc

but I can't play it either although I've downloaded the newest
version of the free QT. It is playing but without picture and
sound :-(

Well, since Quick Time screwed up my other puter, I have not installed
it on this new one, so now I don't seem to have anything able to play a
mov file. <pout mope> Will Windows Media Player not play mov files? I've
tried, but it tells me I don't have the right codec and it doesn't seem
able to go get it for me. <grrrrrrrrrrrr>

Okay, then let's try it with the codec that I've been
using on my website for the past several years. This one
should theoretically play in Quicktime 3 or higher:

I did. Wasn't going to mention this but there's a 10 minute gay
soft-porn film featuring Ed Bishop and Mike Billington.

I find it interesting that the first one isn't working for
so many people. I've check it on my home Macintosh and
my work PC, and it works fine on both! Of course,
both of these are recently produced machines and both
have Quicktime 6 installed.

Ideally, I would have like to use a format which is independent
of Quicktime so that it's as cross-platform as possible.
I have the ability to make "pure" MPEG-4 files, but the
web servers on Yahoo don't currently support .mp4 files...
(that is, if you attempt to download an .mp4 file from
the server, the web browser will incorrectly think it's
supposed to be text, and you get a bunch of text garbage
on the screen)

But yes, it is an interesting find -- I just wonder
if it's an "easter egg", which is someway accessible
via the menus, or if it's easily accessible and I've
just missed it, or it's completely inaccessible via
the menus...

Marc - you should be able to configure your browser to deal with
that - I wouldn't have thought it was a server issue. Some browsers
allow you to associate file type with filename extension, which
would be an easy fix here.

Ahh, but I went and verified that I *could* play .mp4's from other
websites just fine, and verified that my browser does have
the correct mapping for .mp4 files. However, an .mp4 downloaded
from my website produces garbage, so I concluded that it
must be a server issue.

Well, I know 50Megs, where I have my website, won't allow mp3 files -
they get deleted (found that out the hard way after spending an hour
uploading a bunch of large mp3 files only to find them vanished a few
hours later) - so maybe your server has a similar problem with mp4s? Not
sure ORAC (my new puter) can play mp4s either, but <shrug>

I shall have to put your movies on a zip disk and load them onto Zen (my
older puter) and play them there ....
