Re: UFO Episode Discussions: A QUESTION OF PRIORITIE

Greetings.

I've noticed that a couple of people wrote that Alec Freeman missed the
boat by not homing in on Ed's personal situation. But I believe that his
given assignment was to run the SHADO operation during Straker's visitation
day, and not to function as Ed's personal muse and confidant.

Absolutely agree on that - Straker didn't tell him about the
personal situation, and Freeman did the right thing and diverted
the aircraft. Even if he had told him, the aircraft would still
have to be diverted.

I agree with Amelia. If fact I would go further to say that Alec did notice
something was amiss with Straker's demeanour. Both he and Ford exchanged
puzzled looks at Straker's distracted manner. Alec tried to find out what
was troubling Ed but Ed wasn't giving anything away. So Alec being a friend
respected Ed's privacy and said no more but just got on with the job in
hand.
