These two episodes are among my top five faves for the series. I love it
when Straker has to deal with physical danger (death threats) and/or when he
has to deal with mental danger (claustophobia.) I admit it: I like to see
him in distress! *grin* There's just something about getting glimpses of a
strong man's vulnerabilities... sigh. And he handles it SO well.
Sub Smash is great on many levels. 1) Straker in distress, trying hard to
maintain his command in debilitating circumstances. 2) The loyalty and
concern of his command team get a chance to be shown (both Paul and Alec are
worried.) 3) Straker displays his care for his people, especially Nina. 4)
He conquers the claustrophobia, so even though he doesn't get the girl, he
still wins. A great episode!
