Just going through the mailing list messages from the past 2 weeks,
and have some comments...

First, welcome to our new members! I see that we've got more
than 250 members now, which is the largest this list has ever
been!

As for the question on UFO on DVD, rumor has it that it will
be released sometime in 2002 in both the UK and the USA. I
don't have anything more specific than that, but I suspect
that both Carlton and A&E will release it gradually over
several months.

And James, you said that you thought the Antonia Ellis
who works on "Sex And the City" wasn't the same as "our"
Antonia Ellis. I was wondering what specifically did
you read to reach that conclusion?

It looks like the producer Antonia Ellis is not the same actress from
UFO based on the interview at the HBO site. The Velma Kelly website
info regarding Antonia Ellis must be in error.

In the interview, she mentions she is a single New Yorker in her 30s.

So much for me answering the question.

Funny how I can't seem to get other questions answered for me.

Hope you had fun on the trip Marc.

Hi, Im an Ed Bishop fan through Starker , are their two Ed Bishops? Have
seen bought Bond movies, also Journey to the Far Side of the Sun and Brass
Target. What a difference in look. As Straker , so forceful , as other
roles ?. Voice is the same, but seems like different person. Hard to
believe the change. Those Blue eyes are gone. Also George Sewell was in
Journey, looked strange. Dr. Jackson, also in Journey, he looked the same.
I guess make up makes the difference. Elaine

Make up and a few wigs.
If you compare Ed's look in Confetti Check-A-OK with his "real" look, you
will find some more resemblance.

Difference

Hi, Elaine!

The change in Ed Bishop is probably the hair - he doesn't have blond
hair in REAL life. But his eyes are really blue! George Sewell in
Journey - probably the hair, and the fact that his character was so
ruthless. Most of the characters he has played have been ruthless, so
Alec Freeman was actually a departure ... Vladek Sheybal (Jackson) -
well, he never changed, did he? Always sort of creepy <shudder> :-)

Hi Yuchtar,

<<Vladek Sheybal (Jackson) - well, he never changed,
did he? Always sort of creepy <shudder> :-) >>

I always remember Alec Freeman's comment in 'Court
Martial' to Jackson - 'I'd shake hands, but you know
how it is - I hate to touch anything slippery' !

Mike B. at the commentary on 'Kill Straker !' said
there was something of the Frankenstein movie about
Vladek... kept calling him 'Igor' (!) - but I feel
that's unkind (if accurate :^ ). Ed B. pointed out
that Vladek could 'act anyone else off the stage' -
undoubtedly true - and anyone taught the craft from
Bette Davis undoubtedly knew what they were doing !

Hats off to a very talented actor, Vladek Sheybal,

Regards,

Andy

A few years ago I had stills (and maybe a Quicktime movie?) of this
on my website, but it was removed at the request of Ed Bishop! I
think he was embarrassed by the whole thing, and regretted doing
it.

Hi I just watched the tape again. Do not know why he was embarrased , I loved
seeing it, Im Ufo fan from 1970's . He looked good. A little older, but we
all are. He is the Commander. Mad they did not do second season. Would love
to see UFO2 made. To bad he did not do more films, got bigger . Abel to
see him in a few of his other roles. Watch UFO tapes with my family , we
still enjoy them. Elaine

I remember you mentioning that on the list a year or two ago,
Marc. As I recall he wasn't happy with the idea of wearing the
Straker gear while being 25 (or whatever) years older than
the character to which they belonged. So in that respect I
suppose it's surprising that he appears to be happy to do a
remake - although I guess that the Straker character would be
supposed to be older as well, so perhaps that's the difference.

Hi, I did not know Mr. Bishop was embarrassed by this interview , and asked
for its removel of stills on your website. I feel that if I did anything
with said tape ( make copies or stills for anyone else ) it would be an
Invasion of his privacy . I wish to respect his wishes , and will keep
it to myself. He did look good. At the time I had no way of knowing any
information on him, did not have a PC. Was a fan of the show in the 70's
and caught it again on SCI Fi in 1994 , was glad to see he was still with us.

I don't see how it could be an invasion of his privacy if the interview was
ever broadcast. Was the said interview never transmitted then and therefore
should not have been available to the public?

Are you sure Marc that the reason he asked it to be pulled was because he
felt he did not look right somehow? Can you recall exactly what he said.
Also how did d he get his wishes through to you...just curious:-)

BTW Elaine thank you for your off list msg.

I was told separately by Helen Weber & Paolo Malaguti (both of whom
are in regular contact with Ed Bishop) that he was very upset about
the whole interview, and asked that any record of it be removed.
So in respect of Ed's wishes, I did that, even though I know that
fans would probably like to see the stills...

On a similar token, during conventions, Ed has indicated that he
remembers things about UFO that he chooses not to reveal publicly.
However, I'm sure we'd all like to know what these things are, no
matter how scandalous! :-)
