It's unfortunate that the second season of UFO never got to be. I tried very
hard to watch Space: 1999, but the premise (the earth being blasted out of
orbit) was so silly to me that I soon lost interest. Besides, I was thinking
to myself "They stopped making UFO for THIS?" Guess you can see where my
sympathies lay at the time. Considering I'd been a Mission: Impossible fan,
I tuned in to Space: 1999 to see Martin Landau and Barbara Bain.......The
S/F and hardware on Space: 1999 was quite decent, but the characters never
engaged me at all. I haven't revisited the show to see if my viewpoint has
changed, so perhaps I'm being unfair.

Martin Landau, despite any fears of being typecast, went on to become a
fabulous character actor and even won an Academy Award a few yrs ago. I
understand there was a parting of the ways between himself and the lovely
Barbara. I saw him do a hilarious, but wonderful Bela Lugosi for a movie
bio-pic about a well known B movie director - he's quite talented. I think
the Academy Award winning performance came from a film he did with Woody
Allen, as I recall.....

Twas the moon, if memory serves...

When they got the show going again on Canal D, I tried to watch it...
I kinda remembered liking it when it first aired...
But..
8-/
Jee!
<gag>
Couldn't quite stomach it!
Sorry, fans!

On the other hand, I had to stay up to watch the first UFO ep when it came
back for the first time on that same old Canal D... And I was hooked again!
:-D

Sorry about the glitch in my last posting - it was indeed the moon which was
blasted out of orbit in Space: 1999 - I was thinking "blasted out of earth's
gravity pull" .......anyhoo, yes, I'd heard there were rip-offs of Trek eps
in Space: 1999 which hardened my heart again against it. Let's face it,
sometimes a show like UFO is better and sometimes you get.....Space: 1999.
