I own a Sampo machine I bought from New Orleans Express, no problems with
the region switching. I'm pretty happy with it so far, plays audio CD's
very nicely and also plays MP3 CDR's quite well (I seldom use that
option). I haven't tried taping from it yet, maybe over Christmas vacation
I'll have some time to fiddle with it as I want to see if i can tape from
the A&E Space 1999 DVD releases (Just clips etc.)
I also saw a dealer selling region free DVD players at the recent Chiller
Theatre convention in New Jersey 2 months ago (Shane Rimmer was a guest,
nice guy! Got a few UFO and Thunderbirds and Space 1999 things signed by
him!). I don't know if I would buy from a convention dealer though, unless
he has a store how would you take it back if it didn't work?
