SHADO HQ.

Teresa,

Can you elaborate why the UK is the best place, for security purposes, for
the main HQ to be placed? I`d be interested to hear your ideas on the
subject.

Because the USA hardly knows of it's existence! Mind you, anywhere off
continental USA would be just as good as an obscure secret location as far
as the US audience is concerned.

Well, if SHADO headquarters was to be really secure, you'd put it in a
place like West Virginia. Someplace where everyone is related and,
with a few on the payroll, no chance of a stranger coming around
headquarters without Security knowing about it.

As for a base in the UK being more secure, wouldn't that presume that
the aliens only kidnap Americans? What would happen if they
accidentally kidnapped someone who could read a map?

Finally, as for why Headquarters should be kept in the UK, I presume
that would be because all of the UFOs seem to land there. Well,
either there or Canada. You might as well be close to the action.

Wow, this seems to be a new direction we are traveling in, American
bashing. When we get to the French Bashing let me know I have a few
things to say on the subject.

And well You should, since most of us who have been in the service have no problem finding it. Just take a right at Greeland and you are half way there. But then I am of the last generation that actually had competent teachers who tried to teach them how to think, rather then what to regurgatate on a test somewhere.
It should stay in London, or at least England, since they have all of those very large sound stages that could be used to build on. I hope that they don't go the CGI route with the majority of Headquartes. No matter how good the effect is, it still looks a little "Off" to me. There is no reason why they couldn't build actual sets for most of the interiors.
