SID`s orbit.

To be REALLY efective, it would be better if SHADO had a fleet of SID's; a
SID orbiting each planet of the Solar System.

This is fun...

My vote would for SHADO to have a fleet of SID's in GSO, with coverage much
like the GPS system. We already know that SHADO has Deep Space tracker
(NML12 from Reflections in the water), so they've already got that covered.
We know there are holes in SHADO's radar detection from Computer Affair...
on the other hand, is SID's function to detect UFO's, or scan the Earths
surface. From some of the episodes SID seems to have a dual function. But,
SID already existed in 'Identified' when Freeman/Lake transported the
'Utronic' equipment to Moonbase... so, was the Utronic equipment to upgrade
SID, become part of the Moonbase tracker system, or maybe even extend the
deep space tracking capability?

If I were on the Aliens side however, I would create a base somewhere out in
the asteroid belt (hard to detect from all the background clutter/noise),
and then 'nudge' the occasional asteroid out of orbit such that it causes a
collision hazard with the Earth/even endanger Moonbase, then while they're
busy dealing with that, nip in and grab a load of politicians while they
hiding in their hardened shelters... no one would miss a few... would they?
...Mmm that doesn't work, does it... politicians are normally too old and
crusty for organ transplant. Maybe the answer would be to gatecrash 'I'm a
celebrity, get me off this planet' and do the whole of humanity a favour!!!

Straker does say in Identified that they have "satellites". That's a
definite plural not singular. SID may be the focal point of all the
satellites with his AI.

Well, in REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER, there was a "Deep Space Probe"
(DSP-87), so they must have something out there besides SID...
