SKYDIVER---MK2 ADVANCES

Bill Adkins
Thanks so much for sharing the picture with the group. I always wondered how the two craft rejoined and you sem to have solved/answered that for me. The aircraft could simply float along the surface while the sub comes from behind to dock.

I know this might be a question for FAB CGI group, but what software do you use to make your pictures and how difficult was it to learn?

I've always liked this solution too as an idea, the only problem
is - can't quite imagine Sky 1 coming in to land on the sea
surface. It certainly doesn't have the required flying boat hull
shape. Perhaps it would dive into the sea, then float to
the surface.

The Software used to create the model was Rhino3d. You can find it foe sale on the web. It was rendered in Bryce 4. The best software by far for both modeling and rendering is Lightwave 7.0 by Newtek - www.newtek.com.
The software is not so easy to learn. The best way to learn is finding tutorials on the web, doing a couple and then just playing with the program. The more you use it, the more you learn. There are a lot of Gerry Anderson graphics out on the Net. Many offer models to download. Download some models and take them apart. See how they are contructed and soon you will be creating you own designs. The best models I have ever seen for Gerry Anderson were created by Don Showalter. I followed his examples. I wanted to take my favorite Gerry Anderson Series a step further - because I was left wanting when the series ended. There are so many great UFO stories to tell. 3D graphics are a way to make dreams come alive. Poser and Lightwave 3D programs may make that dream come true.

I have been inspired by the model work of Martin Bower. I believe his designs are one of the things that made the Gerry Anderson productions so popular and have retained a fan following.

I thought it would be interesting to explore not only the advancements of SHADO defenses, but the advanced ALIEN designs as well. We never got to really see the interior of an Alien spacecraft (except for some colored lights). What would new Alien machines look like? What new plots would the Aliens ave in mind. If time were running out on their dying planet, how bold would they be? They must come out of the shadows sometime.
