Some Miscellaneous Mayhem!

Michael
Hidy-ho, Campers:

I have to say I was truly pleased by all the response generated by my
recent post on the UFO comic. Some good comments and interesting
questions . . . so much so that I wanted to come in and address a few
items directly.

First off, and once again I cannot stress this strongly enough,
please feel free to ask questions and raise issues. I should mention
how similar input from both the Supercar and XL5 groups have helped
in the development of those two comic titles (otherwise known as: we
can't think of everything here).

(Well, maybe Anthony can.)

I'd noticed a lot of recent discussion concerning Harlington-
Straker. Interesting because it's been a similar topic for comment
among those of us in the comic group as well. The general consensus
is that having a film studio is too good a plot element to
continually shuffle off into the background, so readers can expect to
see more involving Harlington-Straker in future stories.

Let's see . . .

James K you had asked if we had thought of upgrading SHADO small
arms. Admittedly this is one of those subjects we hadn't gone into
in any great detail and I, for one, would welcome your input on the
subject.

(And I wholly sympathize with your comment on having a foot "in both
sides". I assure you, whereas there will be some changes in the UFO
comic, anyone familiar with the format of the series should feel
right at home. A philosophy Kez Wilson and I adopted early on
was "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" We're advancing some elements
for the benefit of the idea that "time passes", but believe me when I
say that we're as wholly dedicated as possible to the original
series.)

(And you'll definitely see some "upgraded" equipment in the series.
Hope you'll like it.)

Going on . . . Dave, I appreciate your concern and direct you to the
above reply I made to James K concerning continuing the original
series. You should especially be interested in the #0 issue, Diane
Annunziata's "Witness To The Harvest", which could be counted as a
sort of "lost episode" from the original series, and which we hope
will serve as a bridge between the television episodes and our
comic. And Anthony's initial mini-series is going to grab you. Lord
knows it did me when I first saw it.

(And, speaking as a fellow Joan Harrington fan, rest assured when I
say we've been discussing the future of each and every character, as
well as potential plot paths and such which they can take.)

(Seriously, Antonia Ellis can dog-ear my comic books any day!)

Denise . . . many thanks for the support (and for setting me straight
about James and Gay Ellis. And James, Gay's definitely destined for
Bigger Things in the upcoming comic. Anthony's story isn't shuffling
her off into the background, not by any stretch of the imagination).
Those of you in this group might not be aware of it, but Denise was
one of the first people who "cornered" me after we made the initial
announcement of the UFO comic at the last Fanderson, and her input
and insight has been an early weathervane as to how the fans will
respond to this.

And I'd like to also point out that, whereas I don't respond and post
as often as I'd like in this e-group, rest assured that I'm reading
the posts . . . especially those concerning The Comic . . . and your
thoughts are quite important to me (a sentiment shared, I am sure, by
Kez Wilson, Anthony, Diane, Christopher and everyone else involved in
the project).

Any other questions?

I have found Misc!Mayhem's web site http://m-mayhem.home.texas.net/ ,
but its front page and its "Misc Links" page do not mention anything
Gerry Anderson except Supercar. To avoid me having to ferret through
dozens of archived messages on my slow telephone-bill-expensive
dialup line, please where can I find information about the various
current and coming new Gerry Anderson series comics that have been
mentioned?

If Misc!Mayhem want to put in their comic any CGI images using any of
my Poser etc models at http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/3d/3d.htm and
http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/appleyard/3d/3d.htm ,
I hereby authorize them to. Please pass this on to them.

There are also various people's CGI Gerry Anderson models on
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FAB-CGI/files/ .

Don Showalter's Interceptor model has a slight oops. On it the port
and starboard halves of its material "hull" are mapped the same, so
they could both use the same texture map. But, as a result, all the
writing (e.g. RESCUE and NITROGEN) on the port side are mirror-imaged
on the render. On my Poser version, I have corrected this. With
thanks to him for letting me adapt and post his models.

Thank's for the thoughts. Yes, I have known Diane for quite some
time now. I'll trust her judgement for now lol.

That's good to hear :)

greedy lol).

Thanks for the response.

Dave.

No way - M is absolutely steeped in British tradition and reeks
of old-school establishment - very few American actors could
pull that off convincingly in my view, and Ed Bishop isn't one
of them.
