Statement about the premise for the new UFO movie

Griff
Hi All,

One thing that has given me a little ray of hope for the new UFO movie/s isthe following statement from Mathew Gratzner:-

"My biggest goal for this is firstly to not alienate the fans of the original show. We're not picking up where the series left off - we are starting from the very beginning. We really take the franchise seriously, unlike a film such as Thunderbirds, where they were saying 'here's a franchise that was great and everybody loved it, now let's put a whole new spin on it...'. We're not doing that. There's a reason UFO has a following, there's a reasonthat Gerry Anderson has a following, and for us to overlook that or take that for granted would be foolish."

Hope this helps,

Griff

UFO Movie Score

Ron DeMedeiros

The SHADO logo at the bottom of the window has a QuickTime aiff file associated with it. This is the UFO theme which has a orchestral sound to it. Maybe Richard Sortomme has already done some of the score?

There have been lots of "cover versions" of the UFO theme done over the
years, although I must admit that this version doesn't sound familiar
to me.

Are you able to hear the whole track or just a part like me?
To me, it sounds similar to the version found on "FAB - Music from the TV Shows by Barry Gray", where it is performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, only in this version, orchestra sounds synthetic. I have to admit thatin my opinnion, FAB version didn't benefited much from the large orchestra...

All the best,
Branko

When I downloaded that, it was 3 minutes and 19 seconds, and sounded like
it was the whole track. And yes, it does sound similar to some of the
orchestral versions I've heard in the past.

I managed to hear just 15 seconds the most, but I will try again.
References to "Watchmen" sound promising... although the music in that one was gross - for me it is the best movie of 2009.

All the best,
Branko

It sounded quite good really, although it sounded like it was done with orchestral samples rather than an actual orchestra, though not having listenedto it closely I can't be sure.

Personally I haven't heard anything similar to that version - most orchestral covers have some 'poppiness' or 'jazziness' thrown in, whereas this version tried to sound fully orchestral (and largely succeeded I think).

Done for publicity purposes perhaps? I doubt very much if 'Richard Sortomme' has started scoring it, also I'm a little suspicious that there is very little elsewhere on the Internet about some of the elements which Gratzner talked in his 'interview', some of which sounded too good to really be true to me...

I'm probably just being cynical and overly suspicious!
