I don't recall that, but there are no captains in the UK
police force, so it would have been an American police
officer.

I think 'superintendent' would be the equivalent rank,
'inspector' being equivalent to 'lieutenant'. Not sure on
that though.

Guys - I didn't mean PD as in police dept, I meant PD as in Prime
Directive.....Pam

Well Pam wasn't speaking of pd as meaning Police Department but as Amelia
said we do tend to think of it meaning that more than we do prime directive.

Did I capitalize PD or not? I don't recall now.....sorry for the confuzion.
I had been wondering what our silver haired boy would have thought about the
Federation Prime Directive as we've seen it upheld (or not) on Trek, ha ha!

Better late then never, even though my Fic has nothing to do with UFO, the info is still usefull. Thanks.
One question though? Where do you stop and move onto something/one new? I have written two books (310 pages and 257 respectively on the computer) for my own enjoyment and I really could have put more into each of them. How do you say "Enough is enough"?

It's hard to say when enough is enough, and it also depends on what you're
writing. My first book was published in 1995 (history volume - our local
Chapters sells it), and while doing the research, I realized that I was
looking a project of larger size than we originally thought. By the time we
started including original artwork, and vintage and modern photos, we had
pushed our page count to over 250.

When it comes to fiction, UFO or otherwise, it's a different matter. I tend
to tinker with a story for some time before deciding it's actually finished.
Of if it's a story I started working on and left behind to work on something
else, it could take me months to get back to it, and in the final work or
it, change it considerably, cutting out portions, and adding others. Denise
and Jess have made the observation that some stories and characters 'write
themselves' and I have to agree that some fiction takes on a life of it's
own. I think when a piece is finished, you'll "know" it.
