...continued:
* The relocated UFO lifts off, flies above the clouds and is flying and flying and flying... and (in contrast to other eps) Sky 1 is still not launching! What are they waiting for? Better wether? ;-) * At last Sky 1 is launching! But shortly before, we can see Skydiver very new the sea-bed. Isn't that a bit risky for a launching sequence? * This UFO reminds me of Captain Scarlet: it seems to be indestructable! Crashed with an Interceptor in the first place, then hit by a missile from Sky 1 - and still intact! No, no, I don't buy this....! * Straker, very harsh: "Get some rest, Alec! You look tired!" Not only Freeman looked puzzled. Me too. I wonder... was Straker so frustrated by the rebellious UFO to say some... hm ... let's call it "nonsense". After all Freeman doesn't look tired at all! * What's the size of a UFO? When it lands it looks very small measured on the trees, rather like a one man craft - and this man has to sit too! (Or are the trees in Canada so big?) * Saw it? After Freeman has reported the examination reports to Ellis and Bradley he leans back. Cut to Ellis and Bradley and immediately back to Freeman who again starts to lean back. (A mistake in the arrangements, hehe :-) * Talking about the entrance to the Mobiles: in one close-up you can see the contour of the entrance on the front side of Mobile 1. (There was a discussion about this in the last weeks.) * The shots of the Mobile under attack are exciting! 8-)) * Again, what are the UFOs firing with? Some sort of light weapon (like a Laser)? In fact that couldn't be, could it? You can clearly watch the beam coming out of the UFO and moving toward the target. But it's impossible to watch a light beam moving (try it out with a pocket lamp). Because the speed of light is too fast to follow a light beam of any kind with your eyes... Nevertheless - I love that shot! 8-) * The Aliens are lousy shooters.... (for more see "The Cat with Ten Lives"). * I was never very lucky about the idea of the desintegration of UFOs after they were some time in the Earth atmosphere. I think the Aliens live on a planet like ours, with an atmosphere too and they breath propably the same air (otherwise why should they rob hearts and lungs from us?) so where are they building their spacecrafts? IN space? * The Alien doesn't want to cooperate - but maybe he doesn't speak english? :-)) * I wouldn't touch the Alien without gloves, Mr Straker... (What if the guy from outer space brought some viruses....?) But maybe they checked it out in advance (okay, THIS i will buy :-) * The wine Mark and Ellis are drinking is from 1984 (so says Mark). Oh blimey, how time flies.... :-) * Second episode, and Freeman wants to leave SHADO because of a different opinion about computer decisions.... no, don't works for me either. * At the end we learn that "had normally procedures had followed we would have lost all three Interceptors". Considering how long it has taken to save two of them with THIS decision, how much time must "normal procedure" cost! (And I always thought normal procedure is to order "Break up the formation!" or something like that...) So, that's all! CU Christian |

Actually, I think in the UFO writers guide (published in a Fanderson magazine, but not available on the web) they said that the UFO's self-destructed in the Earth's atmosphere because it was not as "purified" as the Alien's atmosphere. That makes sense too... -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |

Perhaps it was a new prototype with a stronger shield, that the aliens were trying out. |

I AM a UFO fan (to those who perhaps think otherwise :-) and Pam wrote: > Maybe you should consider a "Nitpicker's Guide to UFO" I bet > there's a ripe market out there for it! Good idea, Pam! Hi all
Coming out of lurk mode to add my ten pennyworth - I liked your comprehensive comments Christian - particularly the bit about the organ stealing >I think the Aliens >live on a planet like ours, with an atmosphere too and they breath >propably the same air (otherwise why should they rob hearts and lungs >from us?) so where are they building their spacecrafts? IN space? Seems obvious now - atmospheres must have been pretty similar! I think the bit with Gay Ellis passing the helmet on was to make the point re their 'emotional attachment' - but think she got off lightly with the 'verbal warning' :-) Poor behaviour for the person in charge who should have been half way to their post as soon as the alert was called! On the whole I don't like this episode - IMHO I don't think it hangs together very well - but on reflection the early episodes did seem a bit disjointed. The moonbase scenes seemed a bit stilted - don't think the ladies had got into their characters Tooth decay was certainly a problem on the alien's planet - you'd have thought that with their ability to travel such distances in space they'd have found an improvement to amalgam fillings.......(Sorry - just had to add to the nit pickings) I never saw this ep first or second time round on UK TV. Did I miss it or was it not shown? Fiona |
