THE FUTURE WAS FANTASTIC - now available!

Hi all,

Longtime readers might recall a documentary that was being made
in the late 1990's, called "The Future Was Fantastic", narrated by
Ed Bishop.  This was never finished or released to the public,
until now:

It looks like there are a limited number available, so if you're
interested, get them while you can!

The first batch sold out so quickly that this has been relisted here:

I've had a copy for awhile -- I'd think it's a "must have" for the UFO fan... after all, it's
got video footage of the Straker car, footage of Mike Billington with the Foster car,
narration by Ed Bishop, a detailed history of the Doppelganger/UFO cars,
footage of Paolo with his UFO jeep...

Thanks for the heads up!

The listing notes that it's PAL format - can anyone confirm if it will play on their computer?  Although region-free is great, I'm in the US and don't have a PAL dvd player or tv.

Yes, I'm in the USA, and it plays fine on my PC.  Although it also played
fine on my DVD player, because my DVD player converts PAL to HDTV.  :-)

It's an OPPO, actually.... but yes, region-free, converts PAL or NTSC to HDTV.  :-)

Given that my own Sampo (which I purchased on your wise advice, much thanks) still works perfectly, I will venture that your OPPO is probably a BlueRay-capable unit?

Hi all,

By the way, if anyone still wants to get a copy of Jeff Smart's THE FUTURE
WAS FANTASTIC on DVD, this might be the final batch for sale:

  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321519667422

Note that this video is narrated by Ed Bishop (one of the last job's he had),
and features video footage of Straker's car in 1999 (rotting away in someone's
back yard), video footage of Foster's car,  Mike Billington, footage
of various UFO shooting locations then vs. now, has a short interview
with Alexis Kanner about driving the UFO cars, shows Paolo Malaguti
and Ed Bishop driving one of the SHADO jeeps.... plus has a bunch of
other Gerry Anderson related stuff.

Welcome to SHADO.  :-)

This group isn't very active anymore, but it is the oldest of the online UFO discussion
groups.  If you include all of the various hosts we've used over the years, this group
has existed for 20+ years!

I think everyone went to Facebook.  :-)

There are two busier UFO discussion groups on Facebook, one called "S.H.A.D.O",
and one called "UFO".  I'm not sure why there needs to be two almost-identical
groups devoted to the same subject, but that's the current situation,

Here are links to the two groups:

  https://www.facebook.com/groups/245683412221883/
  https://www.facebook.com/groups/31163671591/

Also on Facebook there is a "Page" (not a discussion group) for
UFO.  This is mostly for major announcements and posts of
publicity photos, and it is at:

Got mine last week and it was certainly a nice documentary focusing on the models, vehicles and sets.  The last bit with Mike Billington's son calling the show 'crap' should have been cut from the final edit, though.
