I was watching Conflict last night... I was wondering if what the
guy said (Dr. Frank Stranges, in the interviewed at the beginning of the episode) was actually based on reality, does anyone know? Basically, he mentioned that "Congressman Gerald Ford" said there should be open congressional hearings (about the existence of UFOs), that Bobby Kennedy believed in UFOs and that these came from other planets, and that Douglass Macarthur thought that the countries should unite for the possibility of a war between planets (paraphrasing). Just the fact that he mentioned Gerald Ford (and he became president later) was a bit spooky! David Levine |
Correction, I was watching the Dalotek Affair! (Actually, I also
watched Conflict last night, hence my confusion!) David Levine |

Hi David, here is a link which should be of interest to you: http://pages.prodigy.net/thr-ok/quotes.html There are statements by Ford and Kennedy. And of course there exists a lot of sites containing Dr. Frank Stranges. Christian |

Interestingly enough, David, president Ronald Reagan said something quite similar to MacArthur's comment when he called on the former Soviet Union to abandon the Cold War in the 1980's......Pam |

Mmmmhhmm, before I read your post, it had never occurred to me that this guy was real and he was playing himself in this episode! So I guess he must had been pretty famous when UFO was being filmed... David Levine |
Hi All :)
I remember when I went to a Fanderson convention (Uforia I or II ...can't remember), and Gerry Anderson was being interviewed... this precise subject came up, and Gerry mentioned that during the initial filming of UFO, they had interviewed many scientists and authorities on the subject in case they had to present an intro on the subject of UFO's to the audience. Keith Alexander (who had experience interviewing people) interviewed quite a number including Dr Stranges... Gerry mentioned that he (Dr Stranges) was a "Real Nutter!". Anyway, many of the other scientists were quite annoyed when their interviews had not been used... and Dr Stranges interview segment was only used as it coincidentally mentioned historical references to UFOs, that worked well in 'The Dalotek Affair". Hope this is useful! Best to All :) Griff -----Original Message----- From: dlevine2100 [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 1:21 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [SHADO] Re: The Dalotek Affair --- In [hidden email], "Christian J." <memorymetropolis@w...> wrote: > Hi David, > > here is a link which should be of interest to you: > http://pages.prodigy.net/thr-ok/quotes.html > There are statements by Ford and Kennedy. > And of course there exists a lot of sites containing > Dr. Frank Stranges. > > Christian Thanks Christian. My recollection from various sources was the Dr. Stranges was the only one interviewed, as I think he just happened to be visiting the set. It seems like they just tossed that "interview" up rather spontaneously -- I don't know who really thought up the questions, but I assume that Dr. Stranges was giving what he believed were correct statements. That entire sequence was not in the original script for the episode. Marc |
