Does anyone know what the various SHADO and alien vehicles and spacesuits and weapons will look like in the new movie? Likely someone involved in scripting it has looked well through this email group's archives and around UFOseries fandom to find people's opinions and ideas.

The IMDb list the concept artist for the film as Greg M. Boettcher. Might check under his name on the web to see if any of his concept art for the project is out there.

That page says that in the new film SHADO will be under a film studio in Hollywood, not in England. |
I have received the new UFO FANDERSON Soundtrack CD box set yesterday. The most important thing for me is that this time editors treated content as it actually appeared in the series and not as it was written, which reflects the way we experienced the music better. This means that suites of unused music are no longer there, "A Rose for Sylvia" is now named "The Leasure Sphere" and it appears under "Survival" instead of "Ordeal" as it appeared on previous edition (which was a bit confusing), and so on. This also means we get more music from other Anderson series that was used in UFO, such as "Amnesia Cafe" from "The Dalothek Affair" (one of my favourites), which originally appeared in Thinderbirds, and so on. It is worth mentioning that much of this music can already be fond elswhere (e.g. Thunderbirds and Stingray soundtrack CDs), but some of it I hear here for the first time. We get to hear music used in "The Dalotek Affair", "Court Martial", "Close Up" "The Sound Of Silence" "The Cat With Ten Lives", "The Psychobombs" and "Mindbender" all in one place. Also, there is a cue transfered from Long Sleep's music and effects track, that weren't on the previous version and doesn't sound as good as a majority of titles. Audio-wise, it seems that majority of music sounds a bit better then on the previous release, but I am not an expert, and it may just be me. Track order doesn't follow any logic I can fathom, nor does it make a drastically improved listenning experience over the previous release. Also, mono mixes of closing and end titles that already appeared on previous release could have been omitted in my oppinion, making a space for more new music, if any was available. The booklet is extensive, looks good, mainly following already established visual identity and avoiding recycling the photo material from 2003 CD set as much as possible, but I feel previous effort was better designed and printed. Generally, I think we now have legal UFO soundtrack that is closest to the imaginary ULTIMATE edition so far, and it is worth joining Fanderson just in order to get this one, if you are ready to ignore other excellent things they offer to their members. Thanks Fanderson! All the best, Branko _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live: Friends get your Flickr, Yelp, and Digg updates when they e-mail you. http://www.microsoft.com/middleeast/windows/windowslive/see-it-in-action/social-network-basics.aspx?ocid=PID23461::T:WLMTAGL:ON:WL:en-xm:SI_SB_3:092010 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Yes, but at least it mentions Straker - I was expecting the film to be a 'Paul Foster' film - as Thunderbirds was an Alan Tracy production!
I have never heard of the guy who is going to do the music though! I was hoping for some heavyweight like Zimmer, Shore, Silvestri or Horner (Zimmer did part of the Thunderbirds music - which was the best part of thefilm!) Can't remember who did the music toTransformers, but that was pretty awesome too! I'm not even sure where some of the IMDB information for the UFO film is coming from... I haven't seen some of this information announced anywhere else... Note that the director of the UFO film has a new short coming out called "Huntin". A trailer can be found on this page: http://www.matthewgratzner.com/Site_3/directors_page.html Marc > http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1443799/news#ni1225538 > > That page says that in the new film SHADO will be under a film studio in > Hollywood, not in England. |
Matthew Gratzner - Director? Well I think his SFX stuff is great - but willthat make him a good director?
I suppose its the story line thats most important. Wait and see! As long as the Moonbase women have purple wigs and the guys Nehru suits? Oh and PLEASE update SID and the Interceptors! --- On Mon, 12/7/09, Marc Martin <[hidden email]> wrote: From: Marc Martin <[hidden email]> Subject: Re: [SHADO] Re: The new UFO series film To: [hidden email] Date: Monday, December 7, 2009, 7:53 PM > Note that the director of the UFO film has a new short coming out called "Huntin". Gratzner can direct FX sequences but UFO has its angst - he has no record of directing actors and getting emotion on screen. I find that a little disconcerting as it may be an early pointer as to what type of film we get - anaction film, rather than something psychological. |
