Hello, all.
Some time before UFO actually debuted here in the UK, I returned home from school one day to find a featurette (or possibly even a feature) on the show being broadcast on TV.
My mother used to watch PEYTON PLACE -- and this "thing" (whatever it was) aired immediately prior to that day's episode.
This would have been around 16:15.
It could have been part of a magazine programme...
I recognised it for what it was -- being a huge Gerry Anderson fan I was aware that UFO was in production.
What I saw was a dark-haired man I did not recognise, dressed in a shirt and tie (Meddings, perhaps?) sitting at the Moonbase Control Desk and describing a scene from SURVIVAL ("In one episode we had to show a man being sucked out of one of the Moonbase windows...").
There was also a clip of the Russian drilling rig approaching Moonbase from RESPONSIBILITY SEAT.
I wrote to FANDERSON back in 1982, to make them aware of this, but never received any sort of reply.
Did anyone else see it?
Has it turned up, at all?
I've always been meaning to try and track it down myself by searching the TV listings for 1969/70...
In a similar vein, at FANDERSON '82, I was told by a member of the convention committee that Barry Gray had brought along a super 8 film he made of the filming of STINGRAY, but Gerry Anderson refused to let it be shown because it featured Sylvia.
I wonder whatever happened to that?
Does anyone out there know?
