UFO Episode Discussions: THE RESPONSIBILITY SEAT

Hi all,

Unfortunately, we didn't have very much discussion about the UFO episode ORDERL
in the past 2 weeks, but the time has passed and it's now time to
move on to the next episode -- THE RESPONSIBILITY SEAT! So, if
you've got the time to watch and/or comment on this episode, please

Roger Marc. I viewed it last week. Here are a few observations,
comments, nitpicks, etc. in no particular order:

Ms. Fraser in her underwear in Ed's budoir. No question of which was
the "racy scene" causing the episode's expurgation from the original
ATV run.

What was the music Ed was playing while making the move on Jo? Sounde
like Tchiakowski, but I can't be sure. (Tchiakowski Symphony 6 is good
"makeout" music BTW) ;)

Continuity: Fosters helmet. While in the moonmobile he is wearing a
common style helmet with the "luggage racks" on top, but once he is
aboard the COBATEK (SovieTech) transport he is wearing his usual
("pillbox" style) helmet.

Ellis and Harrington suited up in the command sphere: Maybe it's a
tape problem but their helmets alternately appear white or yellow
depending upon angle. Also when the COBATEK transport is bearing down
on the control sphere, maybe it's just me but I think that I would be
leaving the sphere at that point. They just back away slowly from the
window (as if they would be safer on the far side of the sphere?)

Yes,strange the helmets were not picked up by editing at the time.
I have a couple of other small quibbles with the story,if i may.
Surely when Ed runs the check on the Alfa's licence plate he would have been
aware that Jo had hired it.Yet he is surprised when she tells him later.
Also,Jo & Ed arrive at Ed's in his car.When he tells her to "Get out!" i
wonder does she have to walk.

The music in question is "Forest Murmurs", from Act 2 of the opera
_Siegfried_, by Richard Wagner. This seems to be one of our most frequent
recurring questions.

(I've always found that a bit surprising, since this is probably the third
best-known thing Wagner wrote, after the _Lohengrin_ wedding march and
"Ride of the Valkyries", but I suppose it's not quite as much of a cliche
as those two have become.)

Marc, did any of our resident fanatics ever track down exactly which
recording it was?

Actually, the car in question was a Porsche 911/912.

Actually, I always thought that Alec was drinking because his instinctive
decisions were 'wrong'. Therefore the un-Freeman-like order to destroy the
moon rover was an emotionally difficult (and hence the drinking) action
that was probably more an attempt to think along the lines of Ed Straker.

Do you think so? he was quite often seen drinking.Were his 'instincts' that
bad.

But he had started drinking well before things got really heavy. Maybe the
alcohol had influenced his decision.
Still it is an interesting situation that the writers have presented us
with.
And thankyou, yes it was a Porche...what was I thinking?
