UFO Movie, er, I mean Comic...

Kez Wilson
Greetings,

Whilst I have not been reading the UFO movie discussion (much for the
same reason I don't read any fan fiction, we're in the business of
writing adventures ourselves), I would like to say that the comic
we're doing is going to be the closest thing to a true continuation
of the TV series that will see print in most media.

Since we have a true devotion to the original material, we're staying
faithful to the source, something I doubt any film production would
do while re-imagining the series for the the big or small screen.

Plus it's going to be a fun ride.

Just pluggin' the comics,

Kez

Well I'm sure we all share your feeling about the comic Kez. I know I'm
looking foreward to seeing your vision of SHADO in the future/present in it.
You get any use out of the info I sent you or was it just a waste of your
time?

Hardly anything is a true waste of my time, James. Truth be told, a lot of
information has crossed the ol' email box since I started these endeavors.
Not only am I riding herd on the SUPERCAR, XL5 and UFO books, but we have
other interesting irons in the fire.

So jog my overworked memory, which information are we talking about? And to
clarify a point, it's not *my* vision of what SHADO could be, but that of
Yuctar and especially Anthony Taylor as he's taking the stories and
characters into the future. I tend to nod my head a lot and occasionally
raise my hand with a question.

To jog your heavily overloaded memory Kez, I made mention when you taked
about the comic having designed new improved versions of Skydiver and the
Interceptors and other SHADO equipment of you might want to update the
smallarms that SHADO personnel carried and I made a few suggestions along
that line. You asked me for any sites where you and the people working on
the comic might looking at what I was talking about and I gave you a some
that would do the job.
You also asked me about and this is a often question about hand held lasers
as someone was talking about the possiblity or wanting to do a battle in
space. I said that at this point in time they would be too big and heavy and
answered another question about using firearms on the moon and in space. I
said that you could use firearms on the moon as the cartridge contained
enough air to fire it and the low gravity wouldn't be a problem. In space
however would would have the problem of no gravity. Since then I have been
thinking more on the question of how to fight in space. There are two ways.
With the no gravity and having to wear spacesuits it is rather like being
underwater. The underwater hand to hand and knife fighting techniques used
by the military could be used. The first one to get a hole in their suit
loses. But some type of projectile weapon would be needed. The problem as I
said in space was Newton's Second Law of Motion which is: For ever action
there is a equal and opposite reaction. In other words if you fire a gun in
space the force of the bullet leaving the barrel would propel you backwards.
The answer to the problem is a redesigned improved version of the old GyroJet
rocket pistol. The gun used a small 13mm rocket as a projectile. The
barrel of the gun was vented to let the gasses escape. It you were to vent
these gases forward and bacward to eleminate the recoil that would push you
back in space you would defect the one drawback. Also the they have come up
with a new bullet for the 50 caliber machinegun that used a laser to guide it
to the target. Since the 13mm or the GyroJet is larger than .50 caliber
this could be used on it.
Sorry Kez more information overload I expect.
James K.
