No, SW did NOT rip off UFO - the two shows have absolutely nothing in
common! If anything, there were times when the X-Files may have given a nod
to the ideas behind UFO (bad aliens etc) but they were mostly nodding to The
Invaders, including giving a re-curring role to Roy Thinnes, who played
David Vincent in the original Invaders series. UFO, by dint of being outside
the American experience for the most part, did not register with most
American producers working on other SF TV series or movies.

I found the old STAR WARS movies also cool (better: entertaining) but
I think this is another kind of SF and has nothing to do with UFO
(and therefore never ripped of our beloved series). I dare to insist
that George Lucas has never seen UFO :-)

Hell, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. has more to do with Star Wars then Ufo. Where
do you think Lucas got the name Solo from? Napoleon Solo of course.
