UK DVD Box Artwork - Ugh!

Hi all,

I see on the Blackstar website that the cover
artwork for the DVD box has been added:

So what do you all think? I don't really like it.
And what are the words they've put under the
title???

Horrible box art. If they want these DVDs to NOT sell,
they've taken the first right step. There's no
representation on the cover--which is the first thing
a consumer sees--to indicate that this is a TV show,
or even resembling the Gerry Anderson-produced TV
show! It looks like the cover to another "UFO
documentary" and "Sightings" or "Best Evidence To
Date." At LEAST they should have put some of the cast
members on the cover! THAT'S what sold the show, not
the flying saucers!!!

Let's hope the US releases are better thought-out than
this!!

Let's start with what I like. I like the fact that they used the proper
UFO logo/Font and jazzed it up a bit. Also I like the UFO flying out of
the O which is from the two Novels of the series.

I can't tell if the picture of the Earth is from the series or just a NASA
picture. Either way it sort of severs the connection with the title UFO
and OUR UFO the Gerry Anderson UFO. So looking at it the title and the
picture doesn't make it about our UFO sadly for me. The SHADO logo is nice
but maybe better on the spine.

Then again, this is the picture of the box that the DVD jackets will be
in? Right? Hopefully the DVD cases will have more appropriate pictures
from the series.

The extras listed sound cool. What's this: S.H.A.D.O. dossier part 1 and
2. Is that from the Japanese Laser Disks or something new?

Yes - I like the shot of the Earth from orbit, but it would have
been nice to have seen a UFO 'on the way in' to make the
connection.

Although actually you can interpret the UFO in the 'O' as being
part of the main picture - the background looks the same .. the
angle looks about right ..

I'm glad to see that they've used the classic UFO font for the
title but a bit disappointed that they've jazzed it up a bit -
given it a 3D look.

I suspect the box set artwork is probably based on the covers ..
I reckon the individual DVD covers will be exactly the same save
the smaller printed text.

Well, it looks okay - nothing particularly UFOish, but okay. I can't
make out what that says under the title: ALIENS ARE COLLxxxxxxx THE
EARTH .....
