I haven't seen Captain Scarlet and the Mysterions but it seems that
UFO is a sort of live action version of Captain Scarlet. Wasn't Scarlet always protecting the earth from Martian invaders? Isn't this, more or less, the same premise of UFO? I think that UFO was based on the same basic ideas. Speaking of carry-overs from old series, did you all know that Space:1999 was originally planned as "UFO:1999." However, since they wanted to sell the product to us Americans, where UFO was not well known, they decided to go with an all new cast and format. |

Well, no, the premise of Captain Scarlet was more about Capt Scarlet being able to come back to life every time he gets killed. I mean, he dies in almost every ep, doesn't he? Were the Mysterons from Mars?? Been a while since I've seen that show and I never saw them all ... > Speaking of carry-overs from old series, did you all know that > Space:1999 was originally planned as "UFO:1999." Well, actually, Space 1999 was originally going to be a SECOND SEASON of UFO, but, alas <swoon> Weren't to be. <slump> -- Y -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Yuchtar zantai-Klaan | [hidden email] I am not a number! The Mysterons wanted to welcome the Earthmen in peace. They aimed a telescope at the Earth men to look at them better. The Earth men thought that the telescope was a gun, and decided to shoot first to be safe rather than sorry. That made the Mysterons vengeful and hostile, and they remained so. I suspect that the Mysteron power base was small and not easily defended against serious attack once a hostile force had reached it, so they decided by all means to stop Man from going into space or reaching Mars again. |
