I think some of you could be jumping to conclusions as I believe this
is NOT a bootleg, but rather an advance notification of the Silva Screen version of the Soundtrack. This company have perhaps unwisely chosen to use to the image of the Fanderson CD in lieu of the currently unavailable artwork for Silva Screen. I think that this being the Silva Screen UFO CD is the most unlikely scenario I can think of! Silva Screen has already announced their longterm plans for Anderson soundtrack CDs, and they include Captain Scarlet, Space:1999 Year One, and Thunderbirds Volume 2. This means that UFO would be at least a year away. The CD listed here says it will be released in late 2003. Also, there's no way that Silva Screen is going to issue a 24 page booklet with their UFO CD, and it seems unlikely that they will even release a double CD. My feeling is that this is either an original Fanderson CD, or a bootleg. Either way they shouldn't be selling it. Marc |
Believe me, they may have jumped the gun and misdescribed it - but it
is the Silva Screen version they are advertising. Can I just ask what leads you to believe this is the Silva Screen release when there's been no info that SS is even releasing a UFO CD (as Marc stated)??? Just curious why you believe that. To confirm my thinking, here is the reply I recieved from Tarantula
when I enquired about the CD yesterday - I think it pays to be careful when using the word bootleg especially when the best case senerio is "don't know". The Lunadude. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ However, this CD is still not released. And since it will be produced by Silva Screen in London I think it would be much cheaper if you buy it then in a local shop. This just for fairness. But, of course, we would be very happy to complete your order. Thanks and best wishes, Tarantula (Michael Klein) --- In [hidden email], "Anthony D" <ad2003@j...> wrote: > LD: > > Can I just ask what leads you to believe this is the Silva Screen release when > there's been no info that SS is even releasing a UFO CD (as Marc stated)??? > > Just curious why you believe that. > > Anthony > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "lunadude2001" <russell_smith@n...> > To: <[hidden email]> > Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 2:48 PM > Subject: [SHADO] Re: Yet Another UFO soundtrack CD??? > > > > Believe me, they may have jumped the gun and misdescribed it - but > > is the Silva Screen version they are advertising. > > > > The Lunadude |

Fair enough comment Russell, but.... I don't think I'm the only one to smell a rat here. The Tarantula link describes EXACTLY the Fanderson CD. Also, when Silva do eventually release their UFO CD,its unlikely to be a 2 CD set with 140 mins of music(unless they are breaking with the pattern that they have currently set). Tarantula ARE well known in film-music circles for very professional bootlegs (their CD of John Scott's score to THE FINAL COUNTDOWN was superb in both sound and quality of the labelling...but John Scott has confirmed that the only legal CD is the one that his own company has issued!) With respect, their reply smacks of a company 'covering their tracks' a little bit. Of course, should Silva confirm that they have pre-announced a UFO CD to the soundtrack retailing trade then everyone can take the Tarantula link as an invitation to pre-order the (legal) SILVA release. But it doesn't mention 'pre-order' and it doesn't mention Silva either! Strange that, eh? Simon |

Mmmmmm. Don't we know? Let's look at the facts: - only two organisations have the rights to release music from UFO - Fanderson, to club members, and Silva Screen to the public - Silva Screen have undertaken no work on their version of the UFO soundtrack, and have no plans to until the club release is solf through (they have said all along that they want to work alongside the club releases, rather than be in competition) Silva Screen are currently putting their efforts into getting their next releases prepared which, as they've already advised, are Space:1999 Year One and a second Thunderbirds disc. If it looks like a rat, and squeaks like a rat, chances are it is a rat! Nick |
Yes, Tarantula is a pretty well-known bootleg label out of Japan (the
few things that I of theirs are very high quality, though).
