I know its nothing to do with UFO but quite a lot of things on here aren't these days,
just thought I'd like to say how deeply saddened I was to hear of the untimely death of Doctor Who Star Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) at only 63 years of age.

I've enclosed a couple of links for members to get more reaction

Along with UFO's Gabrielle Drake, Space 1999's Catherine Schell, Elisabeth was one of my icons of the 1970's.

I'll surely miss her.

best wishes to you all

Re: Elisabeth Sladen

Michael
Along with, I suspect, so many of us over in America, I was introduced to Doctor Who when the Tom Baker episodes began running regularly in syndication.  Elisabeth Sladen's characterization of Sarah Jane Smith was a major part of those episodes.

I especially recall a favorite moment from "Pyramids Of Mars".  Late in the story, the Doctor and Sarah Jane are pursuing a possessed human and several robots through a series of death traps.  At one point they're about to enter a room, and one of the robots begins turning in their direction.  In a single movement, Baker and Sladen smoothly turn about and walk out of sight.  A wonderfully coordinated comedic moment.

Whereas so much attention in Who fandom these days seems to be focused on characters such as Rose Tyler and Donna Noble, Sladen's Sarah Jane will always have a special place in my memories.
