hello all,
my name is Christopher vanderColk and i have just
received security clearance from Cmdr Straker to join
Shado personel at yahoo.Thank you Marc.
In reality i joined shado back in 1970 after seeing the
show for the first time.Who wouldn't have.Since then i
have been patiently waiting to see it on TV again.Late
last year my patience was rewarded when a local
network here in New Zealand began re-sceening the
series.Even if it was at 04.30 of a saturday morning,
nothing could dampen the excitement of seeing Ed
Straker and Co again. This time with VCR at the ready. I
was NOT disappointed. If i can, i get up so i can tape it
without the commercials.
Anyway, just a small note to say hi and glad to have met
you all.
ChRis.

Hey Chris - far freakin' out! Hope you enjoy the e-group! We have lots of
interesting (and sometimes weird) discussions - check out all the other
sites accessible from Marc's great site - lots of cool pix and info, plus
the fan fiction site moderated by librarian Deborah R.

Well at least he used his codename not his real name.
Next time I see you Chris in the Base I want a word. Can't go telling them
Northerners all about the alternative SHADO bases hey? I mean next you'll be
telling them the locations of the local bases are all under the stores of
******** company!

"patiently waiting " ... In between a few flights to the Moon though. I
mean, you *were* paid after all- can't just say you were sitting around in a
small room doing nothing for nearly 30 years with home-delivered Pizza and
all. Expect us to believe you just sat there waiting for the show, letting
the odd UFO whip past your window without so much as a blink hey? What,
think I sound like Dr. Jackson after having a few too many??

Well that's the usual UFO attack time in grid references Blue 3-6 which is
the NZ and Australia area, so i guess that makes sense.

Oh dear, "glad" are you. Well we can change all that. Nothing funny here to
be happy about, oh no. Just "shoot down that UFO willl you", and "Red Alert"
and "Launch interceptors" and "Hurry up Ford" and never you mind any thanks.
That Commander Straker is such a tough boss. Glad? Glad? You want glad - you
have to see Col Lake or Col Freeman depending on your inclination.

The rest of us here- well- we've been cooped up here inside this email
server for so long we've forgot what the moon looks like. Could be green
like aliens for all we know. Like Foster in Ordeal. Or even a pretty blue
like in "Reflections". Or the nice yellow of SHADO security boots like in
Computer Affair. Or even the colour of Gen Henderson's nose- kinda purple in
every scene he's in.

Well off to watch "Monty Python visits SHADO" aagin, till my shots get given
to me.

PS Welcome to the list! Another person from down here will help right the
balance and tilt the axis back the correct way.
