I would hate to be an interseptor pilot. Knowing that I've got one
shot and if I missed I could be toast. Looks like they would have had another type of weapon to use in case the missile missed. However, the interseptors are very cool. |

In a story (The Snatch: Foster is abducted to the alien homeworld and steals a UFO and flies himself back) that I novelized from a Countdown comic issue, I accept this need and wrote this:- > ... The UFO did not go on to Earth, and he [= Foster] wondered why. > It ran ahead of him, shimmering against the remote stars, a little > too far away for his Interceptor's auxiliary weapons to be any use. The auxiliary weapons would be use to demolish any escape pods, even if they were not much use against fullsized UFO's. Or if some other Earth organization's spacecraft nosed around and saw things, the auxiliary weapons could help to enforce an order to "follow me to my base" so the trespasser's crew could be interrogated and amnesia- dosed. |

Auxiliary weapons and reproducing the effects of firing them would have been more work for the prop-making department. With only the missile as a weapon, it is easy: for example, blow up one UFO model and film it and copies of that footage serve for all UFO destructions. But any other weapon effect would have to be filmed separately, and that is likely why we never see Sky 1 disabling a nosy human jet fighter that goes up to intercept it when Sky 1 registers on radar manned by some nation's airforce men who have not been told about SHADO. |

I was watching the episode 'Destruction' on DVD today and noticed an
audio drop occurs and I was wondering if anybody else has the same problem with their disc. In the scene where Straker, Lake and Foster are discussing the Interceptor pilot who is temporarily disabled by a signal from Bosenquet's telescope, Straker says the word telescope, and on my disc the last syllable "scope" and probably the word that follows it is dropped.
