new photos!

Marc Martin
Administrator
Hi all,

For these new UFO photos I'm working on, I'm going to put them
on a special "new photos" page, so there won't be old ones mixed
in with the new. I've already put together a prototype here,
which has 4 photos on it now:

http://www.ufoseries.com/newPhotos

Note that 2 of these photos were already on the website, but
if you go back and compare, you'll see that the new versions
are higher quality than the old ones.

Space Cults

Tim

Just thinking how these space, sci fi productions,
are just ordinary TV productions in their day, but
with time...20 years or so....... something happens and they become cult classics.
UFO is a case in point, it did nt make that big an impression in its day, but now, it has become a cult series , its actors and actresses ( Gabriel Drake , Aysha etc, ) venerated and worshipped by the fans around the world.
I think its a good career move for any actor or actress to get a part in a sci fi series, by appearing in them, Doc Who for eg, they are getting fans for life and endless invitations to Dr Who conventions all around the world, expenses paid.
I was thinking, Ardman have been in the news lately after losing their link with Hollywood , I wonder why they don t think of doing a sci fi series, using claymation .
Maybe they could give Wallace and Grommit a well earned rest and develope new, space age characters that could tap into the endless fascination people have with all things sci fi.....
It could become a cult series !!!!

Nice stuff Marc.

Do you have Georgina Moon's phone number?

Excellent pics but I'm going to have to be "picky" about one of the
descriptions. He's not "spray painting" the wires but "puffing black
powder" onto them so that they do not reflect light.

Thanks! I wasn't exactly sure what he was doing there. I've just
changed the description to "hiding the wires"...

These are amazing, excellent scans. Did you get original stills or
something?

The ones credited to Helen Weber were original 2.25" x 2.25" transparencies,
which is about as good as quality as you can get. The ones credited
to Phil Rae were (I believe) from original negatives/slides. I scanned
the ones from Helen, while Phil scanned his own. The uncredited ones
are photos I've picked up on eBay (prints and slides).

I've also gone and removed some of the scratches and dust specks by
hand, which in some cases takes a while (my scanner has an automatic
function to do this, but I wasn't impressed with the results from
my test cases)

I've got 1080i HD TV and these images are simply stunning.

Great job!

Anyone here collect UFO photos?

By the way, if there are people here who have some really nice,
high quality (or rare) UFO prints/slides/transparencies, I'd
certainly be interested in taking a look at them for consideration
to be added to my website. This could be handled in two ways:

* you could scan them yourself and email them to me. In
this case, it'd be best to scan them at a high resolution
(largest dimension ~ 3000 pixels) and with low jpeg
compression, so I can adjust them later (removing dust,
scratches, adjusting brightness, contrast, etc.)

* or, if you trust the postal service (and me), you could
mail the photos to me and I could scan them here and then
mail them back to you as soon as possible. I have the
capability to scan prints, slides, negatives, medium
format transparencies, etc. And I can also send you back
a CD-R or DVD-R with the full resolution scans of your
items in uncompressed TIF format.

Also, in order to guard against the possibility of anyone sending
me something I may already have, you might want to first send
a digital photo of your prints, or a text description, or maybe
even a reference to a magazine or book which has the same photo.
(note that I have a huge stack of UFO photos sitting right next
to me, so I do have a lot of stuff already)

And again, I'm really looking for the higher quality stuff, not
the grainy/blurry photos that are sometimes sold by photo vendors.
I have plenty of those, too... :-(

Thanks in advance,

Marc

---Yeah, Helen bought those transperancies from yours truly when I
was forced to sell them during a bad time in my life! lol. I did,
however, make a set of original slides off them first.

Ahhh, then these probably bring back old memories for you! I've
uploaded every one of Helen's transparencies to the website except
one -- a shot of Foster and Linda Simmons kissing in the grass,
where you can see neither of their faces (but you can see the
boom mike overhead!)

The 2.25" transparencies seem to turn out the best, quality-wise.
I'm hoping to have some more of these on the "new photos" page
in the near future, thanks to contributions I'm expecting from
Doug Pelton.

Marc-well, the slides I made from them are just as
great...I use them to make my photos from that I've
sold at many shows and on ebay...I did a batch of 11
by 14 oversized ones as well, with great results.

Oh, can you send me those email addresses again for
Helen and Doug?
