True it does look that way - much prettier to have Earth close up as a backdrop. But we are talking Tellyfantasyland here where the Laws of Physics and space and time don't work in the same way as the natural world.
Now I don't claim to be an expert in orbital mechanics but... 1. When they launch in SID2 Straker states when in orbit that it is another"7 hours 19 minutes 27 secs" to SID. 2. When they have reached SID you can here a NASA technician say "We have satellite on positive track. Lunar orbit is correct". I must say though that I do not know how SID could stay in an orbit the same distance as the Moon and on the opposite side. There were supposed to be smaller satellites spread around the Moon's orbitlinking SID and Moonbase.

Does that make sense? It'shard to explain on paper! > I think that practically, there must have been more than one SID althoughthere's no evidence in the episodes. > LtCdr > > --- In [hidden email], "Marc Martin" <marc@> wrote: > > > > > SID is supposed to be in the same orbit as the Moon but on the opposite > > > side of the Earth. > > > > Yes, the UFO writers "bible" says that, but in the series SID is clearly > > in low-earth orbit. > > > > Marc > > > |

If you don't want to read it, delete it. That's what I do. Lookat the first line and delete.

I don't think there's anything wrong with posting news about fan fiction, but since someone raised the subject, I must admit I do regard some of the inane chat as noise I could do without. Instant messaging clients are a better medium for that sort of thing. James [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
