Nick Williams
Hello everyone!

In an earlier post Phil Merkel said:

I've just returned from a fantastic trip to Chicago, and saw a very
interesting commercial on TV for any SHADO members who are unable to
get to a post office to buy stamps. The US Postal Service will
deliver stamps to your home!! You can order at www.usps.com.

I've also had a look back at stamps that have come this way from the
USA (they're all torn from the envelopes and given to charity for
fundraising) and the usual seems to be 80c, although someone did
stick on 2x37c and that got here OK.

Hope this helps.

RE; message from Nick Williams re U.S. postage...

Hate to tell you this Nick... but there is more to the world than the
U.K. and the U.S.
...and this certainly *doesn't* help me or any of the fans down under
(or in other parts of the world).
The only thing that will help it for Fanderson to come out of the
stone-age and start processing on-line orders from the website.

Regards...
Jaime

Sorry about that misunderstanding Jaime. From the few complaints I've
received I was led to believe that only people in the USA had trouble
getting to a post office. Unfortunately I've got a full time job as
well as doing what I do for the club, so don't have the time to
research what the postal services offer in each and every country in
the world.

Yeah, we're right in the stone age. Though for the life of me I have
trouble coming up with the names of any other fan clubs that produce
soundtrack CDs, DVDs, etc. Bring on those wax cylinders guys!

You just *don't* get it do you Nick!!

The quality of the merchandise has never been in question. Never.
It's obtaining the merchandise.

It's about making it easier for more GA fans (around the world) to help, join in and support the club. You've made it quite clear that the current committee has no interest in that (at this point in time).

No one denies that all the Fanderson people don't go above and beyond... It's about you guys being better rewarded for the fruits of your labour, by making what you do more accessible.

I should not have sent my sarcastic reply to your mail... for that I am sorry... I was wrongly airing my frustration on the matter.

Regards...
Jaime

Question re: old 60's/50's(?) science movie

jing g.
In reply to this post by Nick Williams
hi,

i've been trying to figure out the title of a science movie i saw when
i was a kid that was made back in the 60's or 50's- i'm not really
sure- but the story goes something like this: a group of people
(scientist? crew?) in a middle of a battle between androids escaped by
entering a video (?) screen only to find out in the end of the movie
they will still be in the middle of the same android war and end up
where they started, and enter the same video screen to escaped again,
only this time they lost a couple of crew or something along the way.
any idea?

thanks

You know, that sounds like a movie that I was once trying to find
as well. Although I never found out what it was called, at one point
I had concluded that it was a 1966 movie called "Cyborg 2087"

The title is on the tip of my tongue, but I can't say
it at this moment. Something about "Time"...I can see
the poster art clear as day. "The Time Travelers?" or
"Creation of the Humanoids?"

Someone will get it.

It's not Cyborg 2087 unless it had Michael Rennie as the Cyborg who
goes back to 1966 to prevent a scientist from making a machine that can
control human minds.
It sounds to me sort of like Journey to the Centre of
Time which was made in 1967. In it Three scientist develop a time machine
and the owner of their lab goes along with them as they travel into the
future to see aliens destory earth, back to the past to see dinosaurs(big
lizards), and meeting their selves. This causes them to get stuck in a time
loop. You can't change time to they are stuck going back and forth forever.

The Time Travelers is another good choice for it. It was made in
1964 and has people going through a time portal to the future where mankind
is fighting aliens who use androids and they get stuck in time in the end.
Journey to the Centre of Time is a remake of the above film by the
way.

Ahhh, I think the movie I was thinking of is actually "The Time
Travelers". I seem to recall something about the year 2070, which I
why I thought it might have been Cyborg 2087.

jg,

Could you describe the androids any? My vote's narrowed down to
either The Time Travelers (1964) or The Creation Of The Humanoids
(1962)

OK, if the poster art depicts someone stepping out of a video screen
featuring a futuristic landscape, then it's The Time Travelers!

Travelers and Journey to the Centre of Time at:

and see if that isn't the film in question.
