Star Wars and Star Trek have continued on in novel format. Does anyone know if U.F.O. did too?

It ends with either Timelash (where Straker conquers yet another alien
attempt to take over Earth) or The Long Sleep (in which the girl who informs SHADO
of the bomb but who is then killed by her supposed boyfriend who was also
under alien control) - in this country (the UK) it has been a source of
discussion for many years as to which episode was meant to close the series; if you
want it to be Timelash then it ended on an upbeat note, if it was The Long
Sleep then it was not. UFO was meant to come back as a second series and was
to be called UFO:1999 and was to be set more on the moon, things were
progressing well when the plug was pulled and it eventually became Space:1999.

If you would like to know more then the book by Chris Bentley would probably
help.

I'm sorry, I'm not being clear. I mean, that I wanna know how the story ends, not the series. What finally happens between up and the aliens, or maybe more plainly - who wins?

P.S. I remember watching Space:1999 as a kid, unfortunate;y, all I remember about it is Mya, the shape-shifting alien.

There simply is no answer to this question, and a novel dealing with a
conclusion to the story, being essentially merely one person's extrapolation,
wouldn't really answer it either.

goes on and on and ...

Oh? What if the novel were by Reg Hill, and approved by Gerry
Anderson, with a statement that he considered it a canonical part of
the series?

The aliens do. What else could explain Space:1999?

How probable is that scenario? :D How many novels with storylines not
present in an original TV series are accompanied by a statement from the
original series producer, suggesting that they are considered official
canon?

But to answer your question: even then I'd say my comment still applies.
I wouldn't consider a novel by Reg Hill to be canon, even if Gerry Anderson
did; although I'm fairly sure he wouldn't in any case.
