But I would have to say that less than half of the sci-fi audience falls under that category from the evidence I've seen at Sci-Fi Cons over the years. And the rest of us fans would be highly offended at nudity in our shows, unless it's played for gags as was Q's appearance in "Deja Q" of TNG fame. And that was tastefully done. If and when I ever want porn in my sci-fi, I'll check the upper rack at my local video store for "Debbie Does Mars." Till then, keep it covered. No, Denise I'm not joking. Nudity in and by itself is not porn. And since
you didn't find it offensive when it was done in a humorous manner in the ST:TNG episode Deja Q why is it offensive if done in a serious manner? Or any other manner? Isn't that what they call a double standard? And isn't that a form of prejudice? And isn't prejudice wrong? It the same as making judgements about people or things on the basis or their color or religion or anything else. Look if you don't want to see something fine. But just because you don't wish to see it and just because whatever Cons you go to have certain prejudices that doesn't mean the majority things that way. Most people go along with the crowd. But that doesn't mean it is right or fair to everyone. If you want Porn stay away from Debbie Does Mars and read The Song of Solomon, oh, No that can't be porn because it is in the Bible. Beauty and porn are concepts that are both in the eye of the beholder. James K. get down off of cracking soapbox. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Whoa, James!
No need to take a pet. If I can be tolerant of your comments for the proliferation of nudity and porn in the realm of sci-fi, surely you can return the favor. Didn't mean to push any of your buttons. I just wanted you to know that nudity is not something that most people want to be bombarded with on their television sets. And when nudity is tastefully done, it isn't porn. I'm sure you know the difference, in art or theatre. There's class... and then there's the rest. If you want to discuss this topic further, e-mail me personally, since nudity isn't really on-topic for this UFO group. I'd be happy to discuss the concept of nudity and art with you.
