scuba gear.

I can`t see the idea of releasing oxygen from the scuba tanks working. By
the time the crew needed the Scuba gear to escape, the oxygen tanks
would`ve run out - just a picky point!

I had more in mind them just sitting there breathing through the
scuba gear, the idea being when you're desperate you'll try anything
to prolong your last minutes but I see what you mean. By the time the
water was all pumped out there wouldn't be any oxygen to get to the
surface.

What about that theory that if you're down deep in a sub and you go
through the escape hatch, the oxygen in your lungs expands so you're
continualy expelling it as you head towards the surface? Or is that a
myth?

its not a myth ....... used that trick myself on a dive rescue
