James May's 20th century/favourite UFO moment

virgil1864
Caught a few minutes of this programme tonight which featured an item about the history of nylon. Strangely enough, the psychedelic 60's were illustrated with a clip from UFO!. It was the bit showing Gay Ellis changing into her miniskirt uniform. Boy!, did the BBC clip look worn out - lots of grainy film, fluff etc.

My favourite UFO moment is at the end of The Square Triangle when Straker is explaining to the couple sipping coffee about the amnesia drug being colourless and, of course, tasteless:). I love the moment when they both realise that it was in their drinks all along and Straker asks "More coffee?". Brilliant!.

3.       Barbara Feldon (Get Smart – only reason to watch the show)

4.       Diana Rigg (The Avengers)

5.       Wendy Padbury (Zoe – Doctor Who)

6.       Felicity Kendall (The Good Life)

7.       Paula Wilcox (Man About The House)

8.       Loni Anderson (WKRP in Cincinatti)

9.       Bernadette Peters (All’s Fair)

10.    Lisa Goddard (Skippy, Yes Honestly, Woof!)

She was big on Broadway, and you would probably have had to see All’s Fair or Sunday In The Park With George http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunday_in_the_Park_with_George

As I agree with your selection, you have to admire Linda Thorson as well as top
60's tv totty Diana Rigg. Also several Companions from Dr Who, as well as W
Padbury. Perry comes to mind (can't think of her name right now) Kate Ford from
Pertwee's season and her predecessor Dr Liz,  someone ( actress' name escapes
me).

Apologies, I know it is not Kate Ford; she is from Coronation St. It is Kate
someone I know. She played Jo, the brainless blond wonder; I prefered Dr Liz
(unknown surname at present, someone help me here) as she had looks, maturity
and intelligence. a foil to the lamented Timelord.

4. Diana Rigg (The Avengers)

5. Wendy Padbury (Zoe – Doctor Who)

Caught a few minutes of this programme tonight which featured an item about the
history of nylon. Strangely enough, the psychedelic 60's were illustrated with a

clip from UFO!. It was the bit showing Gay Ellis changing into her miniskirt
uniform. Boy!, did the BBC clip look worn out - lots of grainy film, fluff etc.

My favourite UFO moment is at the end of The Square Triangle when Straker is
explaining to the couple sipping coffee about the amnesia drug being colourless
and, of course, tasteless:). I love the moment when they both realise that it
was in their drinks all along and Straker asks "More coffee?". Brilliant!.

What am I thinking? Yes, you are correct. I have just remembered Anette Andre
from Hopkirk Deceased. Alexandra Bastedo yes, of course. I had quite a thing for
Susan Penhaligon too. Which actress from TP? Was it the beautiful black woman I
recall? She had a bit of an impact on me and certainly the best looking and
mature character apart from dull poloneck John...

also i apologize to gabrielle, i didnt really know their names.
thank god for them during my lonely adolescence, and thanks to fangora magazine for all those pictures before the internet, also during my lonely chubbly zit faced adolescence and thanks to tandy corp, for their cheap rabbit eared tvs that could be passed down by even the most selfish miser, to a outcast 12 year old boy. and also thanks to carol dota from channel 36, and to creature feature's i cant remember his nme right now, wait! --bob wilkins, for all the x rated horror movies that he played despite the censorship rules for tv.
again thanks to all.

Hi Stevan,

I don't know how you look, but neither of these two guys would be allowed to into my living room on their looks alone, and certainly not onto the edge of my bed ;-))) Both are rather unsexy in my book.

So don't be unhappy, not all women consider theirs to be reasonably good looks.

Re: James May's 20th century/favourite UFO moment

In reply to this post by pyschobomb
another creepy thing in ufo,
in relation to real like, is the paul meeting straker the producer scene.
the pistol shot off the outside of the building, the fan of resistance in his face despite his insistance about what he saw, and the actual realization that he is in a deathtrap, even though it all turns out alright at the end,
these kind of metaphoric displays actually describe quite well the things that happen to anyone who steps out of line or is forced out of line due to accidental circumstance.
it always kind of made me nervious to watch that part, i remember it well, as a, i guess i was in 6th grade,  student of the unbelievable, there wasnt much to study, a few things [the book of the damned], a few paperbacks of ufo sightings, the hills, travis walton a few years later, the hopkinsville little green men, and the pasquagula missippi abductions, with those pointy eared, nosed, crabclawed elephant skinned robots, i guess you can see the few reports available. one time i got a hold of a real book about the hollow earth and military reports of huge sea creatures, but it was in someone's personal library and i only saw it once. but i couldnt get enough of that, even back then, ufo sighters were criticized severely, and we wondered about them, who drove them, where they came from, not a clue about any of that, it was all high strangeness.
the ufo tv series, brought it all into a basket to review, and the horrible fact that people were being abducted for thier body parts and desperate aliens here to invade earth was terrifying. not many people accepted ufos as real, and those who did, either were in evening study groups once every few months, [ labelled crackpots] or just were on thier own.
well, i bettter shut up, or i will continue rambling on.

Brilliant!.
