Hello Everyone,
It's my 48th birthday today and I feel it (48 I mean!). Not so bad really. When I reach my 50th I might just drown myself in some green liquid. Right now I'm gonna drown myself in Southern Comfort!! All The Best, BRIAN [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

You know the 48 Crash come like a lightning flash
It's a silk sash bash The 48 Crash Crash Crash 48 Crash Crash Crash 48 Crash Congrats both of you - mine was 2 years ago Funny how that song didn't mean so much when I was 13, but by the time I was 48 - I understood it (although, thankfully, one aspect of the song never eventuated) From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Kevin Bulmer Sent: Wednesday, 16 June 2010 3:29 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: RE: [SHADO] MY UFOING 48TH BIRTHDAY Happy Birthday Brian. Green liquid....
Absinthe? or something stronger? Absinthe is green isn't it? Perhaps that'swhat the aliens were breathing.. :-) Or perhaps you were thinking of Fairy liquid, Brian. I myself am approaching 50, from the wrong side though.. Feeling 48 is a little worrying though. I only feel 24! --- In [hidden email], Brian Serridge <brianserridge@...> wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > It's my 48th birthday today and I feel it (48 I mean!). > Not so bad really. Hi :)
I reckon he means a tot of creme de monte... Happy Birthday, Brian! I still have the indignity of a half-century bash in a few years time... It can't be a coincidence all us UFO'ists are about the same age... Take care all... Yes, it means that UFO was most successful with 10-year olds in 1970-72. Marc |

Happy 48th Birthday, many more. First saw UFO in 1970. I'm older for a
fan 69 . Loved the show Elaine In a message dated 6/15/2010 4:10:54 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [hidden email] writes: Hi Marc, Thanks :) Shucks! I remember the Fanderson convention in 2000 when I met Ed Bishop, and he was surprised at how young I was (I'm also turning 48 this year). I guess he was used to the initial wave of fans who were probably 10+ years older. Marc |
If you can compare it to a certain other franchise, it hits its stride and gained viewership in reruns. Who says the same cant be said about UFO??

Amazing!
Me: 48 in December. Hello, fellow UFOists & time travelers, of all eras! --> david P.S. Bizarrely, I believe Mr Ed Bishop made a cameo in my dreams last night. Probably because we recently saw the movie Pets. Ha! On Tue, Jun 15, 2010 at 5:08 PM, Marc Martin <[hidden email]> wrote: > > > > Happy 48th Birthday, many more. First saw UFO in 1970. I guess I was the rarity: I was a 17-year-old girl when UFO came
to NE Ohio in 1972. It had been 6 years since Star Trek and would be 5 years until Star Wars, so I was hungry for a new science- fiction show. I'm 55 and feeling every year and bump lately. Saw UFO in WPB Florida
in 1972 or 1973...it was the first Anderson series I had seen on TV since Stingray in Ohio in the mid 1960's...I wish they had made more! I love all of Gerry's shows and how they fed my imagination. I remember one guy in High School (when it premiered) that made fun of UFO and ridiculed me for liking it. I guess it made me stronger! I also remember he mad fun of MASH and said it'd never last past one season...hehehe! John On Jun 15, 2010, at 5:08 PM, Marc Martin wrote: > > Happy 48th Birthday, many more. First saw UFO in 1970. Heck, I'm feeling old now. Possibly the oldest of you all! I'll reach the wonderful age of 57 shortly... but I still only feel about 24 (or 96 on a bad day!) Anyone out there older than me? Please?? At 39, i guess that makes me one of the 'babies' in this group!
Oh and Marc, if you think that UFO had a big effect on the 10 year-olds watching it; I can tell you the show made an almighty impression on little ol'4 year-old me, being the first ever TV series i remember watching. --- In [hidden email], "Marc Martin" <marc@...> wrote: > > > It can't be a coincidence all us UFO'ists are about the same age... > > Yes, it means that UFO was most successful with 10-year olds in > 1970-72. > > Marc > |
I'm pretty sure that there are loads of older UFO fans out there, who are disuaded from 'coming out' by fact of their age! I get enough 'patronising' comments from friends and family about the fact that I enjoy reading, writing and drawing UFO realted things... when I should be ... 'looking after the grandchildren' etc! It's not seen as 'normal' to be interested ( or should that be 'obsessed'!) with a TV programme that is 40 years old. (Philistines!) Also.. let's be honest, for all those of my age who are computer literate, I know more people who never use the internet (my sister for one!) and therefore don't know that sites like this and fan sites in general even exist. I didn't, until last year!! (shame on me!)But I'm making up for lost time now! I was only 6 when I first saw UFO back in 1972. The biggest memory I have of that time was when I argued with the baby-sitter on what to watch on tv. . . I wanted UFO and she wanted to watch the Wonderful World of Disney! (Ilost the battle because she was bigger.)

OMG! That didn't happen every week, did it? I would assume it was just the one week, otherwise you probably would have lobbied for a new sitter. I know I would have. Or freaked out at the very least.
