Re: Posting

It's also sometimes hard for "foreigners" (non US non UK) to get the various
"domestic" jokes or some discussions going on, overall.
For example, I did enjoy only a few jokes on Straker/Foster and the Echo
Gun.

I also tend not to pay attention to the various replies on a discussion
topic which did not interest me.
For example, if a message still carries the subject "rank", I definitely
skip it even though someone may have moved the discussion to some other
topic.

Marc , maybe some of the 900 members are like myself . I have problem in writing English ( I can read it , but it's difficult to write without a dictionary to spellcheck , so I don't write !)

It could be ! I'll be there to read :-)

I'm not mad at you Bryan, far from it. I never was. I was just trying
to point out how things looked from my side of the fence. Sorry if my
posts came across that way. As I said it's hard to interpret email
because you're not getting any "tone of voice" from it. I'd consider
it an honour to be your friend and I've really enjoyed your posts and
what you've contributed to the topics discussed. I've always found
them to be insightful.

No - I was merely using that an example to show that there are probably
far fewer than the listed 900 subscribers paying attention to the list.

Karen,
Your mentioning Ed's wig ended up being quite fruitful for me.
Not so much the wig, but on one of the sites under the Google
search for "Ed Bishop wig" came up with a photo of Ed Bishop
visiting my home town (I think it was in 1990)and I never knew
he was ever here. I put it on floppy disc to have the local photo
shop do me an enlargement so I can hang it in my computer room here.
That site also has a photo of him inspecting the wig in question.

Thanks, Kevin.

Bryan,
You are quite correct about the wording to be used in the Google
search. The number of UFO sites must be enormous.
If you are searching for a particular subject,I found it also helps
to add a specific or a forced search, such as "UFO straker" or
"UFO ventham" , then you don't have to weed through all the similar
UFO sites.
I'll find "The The" by pulling out the the Beta VCR tape with the the
song on it and do a Google search --this time using the the song
title. (%o))

Regards, Kevin.

Sort of, produced by Leslie Stevens, of "Outer Limits" fame.

The best website for the show seems to be offline right now, but that
one might jog your memory.

I believe Hugh O'Brien was in it. Set similar to the Time Tunnel.

typed in "Ed Bishop wig" exact wording and only come up with one site
and that was a parody on a wig used in theatre and in passing
mentioned Ed's wig along with others. Knowing that there are many
more sites and yet my google search is not finding them really ticks
me off.

All of a sudden I'm beginning to realise why everyone else is pulling
up all sorts of information and I'm not. I don't understand it. I
thought Google was universal to everyone.

Amazing, as soon as I saw the title, I recognized it.
Somebody gave me a Beta tape which has one episode on it
under the alternate name of "Probe"

Then again maybe I should go back to banging my head against the desk
top. It's not knocking any sense into me but if I keep it up maybe
it'll put me out of my misery.

Kevin I don't suppose when you typed in "Ed Bishop wig" you did it
without the quotes? Ed Bishop wig

Funny how all of a sudden I'm pulling up all sorts of stuff now. (I
hate searching, I really do - either that or it hates me).

And to keep this on topic (somewhat) I'd like to draw a parallel
between Virginia Lake and myself in the episode 'Reflections in the
Water'. I believe that's the one where she's about ready to kill the
computer and Straker.

Yes, Karen, you're right, it's _without_ the quotes.
My fault, I'm afraid as the way I used the quotes was to
separate the search wording from the rest of my message,
I only now realise how misleading it must have been.
It looks like you'll have to start banging my head on the desk.

Sorry about that, Kevin.

LOL, I was wondering what article it was that you found that
mentioned your hometown? Was it the transcript about his
Melbourne/Sydney visit? That was a good article.

Yes Karen, that was the one. I was wondering how I didn't come to
know about his visit at the time, but then there was no internet back
then, as I recall, and if it was in the newspapers or TV magazines, I
must have missed it.

Thank you, that's very reassuring to "hear".

I know that you don't, as a rule, like one-line replies, so I'm trying not to make this too brief.

Thank you Karen that makes me feel alot better. Sometimes I type things the wrong way. I have a friend in AZ that shipped me about 50 DVDs of Dr. WHo. I am going to send him UFO. I know I can trust him because we have sent so much stuff back and forth. Maybe I can get him to get on these boards with the rest of us. Who is your favorite character on UFO and why?

I have some friends from another chat forum (not UFO) and it's always
heartwarming to find out how generous people can be. I've been mailed
quite a bit of stuff by fans who are willing to share. Normally I buy
stuff if it's available but when you're looking for something that's
decades out of date, it's hard to come by. People in my chat group
will spot a video in a clearance bin and buy with the sole purpose of
mailing it off to any other needy fan in the group. I usually try to
send something in return as a token of my appreciation although I'm
never asked to.

It's good to see the same between you and your friend. I used to
watch Dr. Who as a kid but it was never broadcast in my locales when
I got to be older. I'm sure it's on the Space channel but we don't
get that anymore.

I'd have to say that Straker is my favorite character of the lot. I
think that Ed Bishop did a good job with him but then again I believe
he had the most air time. He had a very commanding presence so it's
hard not to be drawn to him.

I find the most intriguing character of UFO to be Dr. Jackson. I
would really have liked UFO to continue on in production just to see
his character development. It could be that he would have ended up
being my favorite but he just wasn't given the chance. When you
consider how much air time Jackson had it's amazing how he sticks in
your mind. Good guy or bad guy, who knows?

So who's your favorite?
