Hi! My name's Ben and I am seemingly the only Gerry Anderson fan in the united states. I
haven't seen any episodes of this show. My mother deemed it to violent! But she let me watch Indiana Jones where a guy gets his heart pulled out then is thrown into a lava pit where we watch him being burnt up. Not to mention a guy being trapped in a rock crusher and kids being whipped. She's a mystery to me. Anyway, Marc's site has already explained much of the show to me. Has anyone in this group heard of Terrahawks? If anyone has I'd like to know. Thanks! |

Ben, there are probably hundreds of people on this list from the US.
Including me. I realize that a lot of people in the US don't know about UFO or Gerry Anderson, but you're certainly not the *only* US fan. Not even close! Marc |

Compared to other Supermarionation projects, it looked like hand-puppets, and I, personally, thought it stink, stank, stunk!

I like UFO and Space:1999 primarily. I was on the FAB-UFO list a while back, and recently discovered this list on Yahoo groups. You can find UFO (and Space:1999) DVD'S on Netflix.com if you would like a chance to see them all without having to purchase the discs first. They also offer a 1-month trial membership if you are interested. I bought my UFO DVD sets from Amazon.com, but joined Netflix for a Film class that I took last fall. To my delight, Netflix had the entire series of both UFO and Space:1999. Regards, Robby Garner Deep South Outpost 7/CyberMecha Studios. http://www.cybermecha.com |

Can anyone describe if these are the "good" sets people have been talking about here lately?.... like, are these the Carton sets, the complete 26 ep set with the digital remastering, etc? I have the whole series on tape, but I'm debating buying the series on a DVD set. Is the video quality better enough to justfy it, etc? The set that people have been talking about lately (in the US) is the "UFO megaset". Typically this sells for about $70 discounted. The sets at Edward Hamilton are the older version, which had the series split into two sets. However, the discs are identical to those in the UFO megaset. The only difference is the packaging. I prefer the packaging in the UFO megaset, but you'd need to decide if that's worth $30. Either way, the DVDs are remastered, uncut, and look a LOT better than any videotape. Plus you get 4 commentary tracks, plus some other extras. Marc |

What differences in the packaging might I want to consider? Is it just the boxing and wrapping, or are there booklets, posters, fold-outs, etc inside? Dave H. |

> Is it just the boxing and wrapping, or are there booklets, posters, > fold-outs, etc inside? There are no posters, foldouts, or booklets in either. The original 2 sets come in opaque plastic cases that contain 4 discs each. It's rather wierd, and it's a bit awkward to close. The only piece of "artwork" is a single sheet of paper which is printed on both sides (and difficult to read through the opaque plastic) set 1 looks like this from the outside: http://www.newvideo.com/productdetail.html?productid=NV-AAE-70495 set 2 looks like this from the outside: http://www.newvideo.com/productdetail.html?productid=NV-AAE-70632 The megaset has an outer box (cardboard) with 8 individual volumes stored inside, each with their own plastic case. the megaset looks like this from the outside: http://www.newvideo.com/productdetail.html?productid=NV-AAE-70988 The discs are identical on both, so it's only the way they are packaged that's different. There are some more pictures and scans on my website at: http://www.ufoseries.com/videos/ Marc |
