Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by someone who was writing a magazine article about UFO for an upcoming issue of the UK magazine "TV Zone" (which will probably be available in about 2 months). The author was looking for some UFO photos to illustrate it with, and I told him to look at my website for photos, and one of the photos that he really liked was of Georgina Moon, the unnamed Skydiver operative (the scripts named her Sylvia Howell) who was always talking about "boosters" :-) The original scan wasn't the best of quality, so I asked Bill Cotter to rescan his photo and I did some touchup work on it, and have updated the version on the website: http://ufoseries.com/character/skyOp.jpg It's still not the best of quality, but it's the best we're going to get until we find a better source for the photo. This photo has always struck me as a bit odd, because what's she's wearing to cover up her breasts is more revealing than what she actually wore in the series! So I'm wondering if this was a test shot, or a shot made especially for a men's magazine, etc... Anyway, thanks again to Bill for rescanning this, and be on the lookout for an article about UFO in an upcoming TV ZONE magazine! The author asked me several questions, so it's possible that this article may actually have as many blatant errors. Also, it may have some not-so-usual photos to illustrate it, and who knows, perhaps even a plug for my website! We'll see... Marc |

Good job Marc! Very nice photo of Georgina(I will not make the obvious joke)
Moon. I like you have always wondered about her costume or lack there of. This photo is indeed more revealing than what you see in episode or other photos. I was considering the possiblity that perhaps somehow in finishing the episodes in editing they sort of airbrushed them to make them less revealed. Now before anyone says that isn't possible I happen to know it was done in films. The one that I can think of the title of right off had is the 1945 version of THE WICKED LADY. In this film lead actress Margeret Lockwood's character was giving to wearing very low cut dresses. They was so low in fact that the American release of the film was delayed while they raise Miss Lockwoods neckline frame by frame. So they might have done the same with Georgina's breasts. Only people who know for sure are Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and Georgina Moon. A good question to ask if every we get the chance and people get tired of asking about the wigs and how the miniture work was done.:-) James K. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Interesting theory, but there are other publicity photos (shot while the series was filming) that clearly show that Georgina was wearing something less revealing than that other photo shows. For example, here's one: http://ufoseries.com/temp/moon.jpg So I think that that other photo is likely a test shot, before they figured out what to put underneath the mesh. Marc |

Well it is less revealing but since it seems to be taken from a episode
rather than a posed publicity shot it might be that the still was made from a from of the series after the editing to hide her was done. It hard to tell anyway as she is standing in a shado(w) and the photo is cropped just about where anything of interest or objection might show. James K. >rather than a posed publicity shot Uhhh, that *was* a publicity shot, James, but if you don't believe it, then you must certainly believe that *this* is a publicity shot: http://ufoseries.com/temp/moon2.jpg (this has my vote as one of the strangest UFO publicity shots ever!) Marc |

Gee Anthony, when and if I were to hear the sound of hoof beats behind me I
first get out of the way. As too what it would have cost back then who knows? As to if it was really done? Like I said only GA, SA and Georgina know. But do remember that movie I mentioned and several others that were similarly changed before release. I only said it was a possibility not the only answer. Just because something seems unlikely doesn't mean it might not be the answer. Otherwise you might find yourself get stepped on by Zebras because you know they don't live in your part of the world and didn't get out of the way. <g> James K. If you say it was a publicity shot I will take your word for it Marc. As to
the new shot I have seen one very like this on the cover of Communique not to long ago. Not the same pose but very similar. It is sort of where I got the airbrushing idea. You can see that something is covering her breasts but not what. However in the series you can see her back and sides very clearly show she isn't wearing a bra or anything else that would cover her front so completely. Nice photos by the way! <vbg> James K. Even though my family has waged biological warfare on me since school let
out (We're all sick) having these pictures has certainly made the weekend....interesting. Or should I say, KERPLUNK! (New Yorkers don't kerplop!) Thanks for all the hard work guys! That Carlin picture with Georgina Moon would be a great one to get autographed at a convention! And the Fraser picture! Wow! Alright, I'm a pig, I admit it! We never get pictures like this on the Space 1999 list! (Except for those Catherine Schell kicking pictures!) |
I dunno, Phil!! That pic of Catherine in the blue dress from the Catacombs
Picture of the Week is pretty tasty!! Meeting her in NYC was a great high point for me. Almost all of the pictures of the week in the Space 1999 Catacombs are great (I go there every Saturday to check out the updates!) here's a link for those interested http://64.246.32.216/~catacombs/main/newpic.html and here is a direct link to one of my all time favorite pictures from Space 1999 http://64.246.32.216/~catacombs/main/images/space/spy2pfire5.jpg |

No, there is only time for dinner left. :) |

I enjoyed Ed's commentary I just wish there had been more of it. He is such a sweetie. Sheila "A dEdicatEd Ed Strakerite" |

I doubt it, I really think they'd just reshoot, wouldn't you? Or just edit her out. She can't have been prominent in more than a couple of minutes of film anyway. James |
